Course Description

The Echo Red to Red course starts at the corner of Dupont and Mainstreet in Historic Echo, Oregon. Race begins in waves, with long, middle, and short course racers heading out of town with a neutral start towards the Sno Road Winery trail system. Once you take a left-hand turn onto Snow Road, it is a wide-open gravel section of 2.3 miles that riders race full gas to get a good position heading into the singletrack section of the course. Most of this race takes place on singletrack so positioning early on is paramount. Remember that the race is not over after leaving Sno Road Winery trail system. Racers must climb out of Alkali Canyon past the old windmill and back onto Oregon Trail Road, Echo Lexington Highway. At this point, it is an all-out drag race on the pavement leading back into town. Once inside city limits, racers make a right onto Bridge Street. Finish Line is at the corner of Bridge and Dupont Street.

Some Important Safety Notes

1) Helmets are mandatory at all OBRA-sanctioned races. Make sure to bring one and wear it any time you are on your bike.

2) Follow proper race etiquette. Be courteous to other riders on the course, especially when passing/lapping slower riders. Make slower riders aware of your intent to pass in a friendly, non-intimidating manner. Be patient and wait until there is enough room to pass. When passing, leave plenty of room and don’t cut off riders. Be extra careful around junior riders.

3) Race defensively and within your limits. This is not the world championship of short track racing! Prior to your race, pre-ride the course to familiarize yourself with technical sections and hazards along and on the course. If you don’t manage to pre-ride the course, ride a bit more conservatively on the first lap and go harder on the next lap.

4) Dogs ARE allowed at Echo, Oregon. Please keep them on a leash and be sure to clean up after them.

OBRA and the organizers of this race do not provide insurance coverage for injuries that occur at the race. The costs related to those injuries are the responsibility of the individual participants. Helmets must be worn at all times while on a bike. Promoter reserves the right to refuse entry for any reason.
